Michelin starred chef Frederic Vardon has leveraged the very best by bringing French elegance and classic recipes to Dubai’s new hotspot, La Résidence Restaurant & Lounge. He has recreated a beautiful set up that transports you straight to France.
Name: La Résidence
Location: Raffles Hotel
Ideal for: A French experience!
What I ordered:
-Organic soft poached egg: Loved this variation of the egg that came with a foamy mushroom broth and garlic toast.
-Parisienne Style King Crab: Plated beautifully, served with summer vegetables and herb mayonnaise, the crab was soft, cold and so delicious.
-Seabass Grenobloise- The Sea bass was floating in a sauce made with browned butter, capers, parsley and lemon topped with swiss chard.
-Grilled Tenderloin: Cooked to perfection and served with fries and peppercorn sauce. The steak was nice and tender but the sauce was a little bitter in taste.
-Jumbo Prawns: Grilled perfectly and served with Bernaise sauce and French fries.
-French Toast: This just made my night! It was warm, soft and delicious served along with salted caramel ice cream.
-Valrhona chocolate square: Presented with gold flakes on the top, this dessert is so chocolaty, creamy and divine. The texture was like chocolate mousse but more rich and flavourful. A must try!
-The place was buzzing and packed with groups of well dressed guests on a Thursday night.
-Honestly, I loved the bar area the most. The dining area was more formal and perfect for a sit down meal. The leather sofas, a huge piano, crystal chandeliers, abstract art, dim lights and candles made for the perfect Parisian setup.
– You definitely cannot leave without trying out the French toast and Valrhona chocolate square.
Bill: AED 300 approx per person for a three course meal.
Service: The hostess at the door was extremely welcoming and sweet but our waitress lacked product knowledge and wasn’t very good with recommendations.

Even though the service and recommendations were not the best, it was a pleasant experience at this modern French brasserie. If your open to experimenting, do try the burgundy snails, foie gras and their sea food platter.
